Winter Kate Obsession

Now, when most of us think of Nicole Richie, fashion designer doesn't exactly spring to mind. Reminiscing on the early days of The Simple Life, her style (and reputation) were not that impressive, however after hiring celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe in 2004, she gradually started to take more of an interest in fashion and her overall look. Seven years down the line, once outrageous socialite has now become a loving mother of two, happily married and a budding designer. Richie's line 'Winter Kate', is exactly the type of clothing I love. Floral prints, floating kimonos, tassles, leather and 'vintage-look' velvet. The prices are a little steep, but you are paying for luxury fabric and quality designs that will last you longer than anything from Primark ever would. You can find her range on international fashion website asos.com.
Here are some of my favourite outfits from the collection...

Alex hearts: Shenae Grimes

There are lots of places that I get my overall style inspiration from; magazines, television, blogs, the media etc. This enables me to style stalk people that have an effortlessly cool aesthetic that very regularly makes me quite depressed (not literally, but you get my drift).

Today I have selected 90210's very own Shenae Grimes (commonly known as Annie Wilson). The reason I've chosen Shenae as one of my style crushes, is because she always seems to get her fashion choices right. Whether it's nipping into the LA shops in her free time, or attending a glamorous Hollywood event - either way, she look's great. She manages to pull off that whole vintage/urban/edgy look, but without making her outfits too complicated. She also is a fan of the basic, v-neck tee which I also love, and never fails to team it a leather jacket and skinny jeans.

Anyway, you might not have actually seen how she dresses before - but I guarantee, you'll love it.

Prints, Prints, Prints...

I think this could possibly be my favourite trend of Spring/Summer 11 so far. I am always excited when I see prints incorporated into seasonal lines, mainly because it's a trend that is drastically different each time a designer interprets it.

So many great, diverse print collections this season, it's extremely hard to chose one favourite. Alexander McQueen once again never fails to impress us with his archaic and 'passé' take on the trend. The majority of the clothes having a high neck collar and exquisite, draping fabric down to the catwalk floor. McQueen's fabric, as strange as it sounds, reminds me of a cross between vintage paisley and snake skin - however, the outcome is stunning nonetheless. The models of the show resembled pagan like qualities, with their barely-there make up and mother earth plaited hair styles.

The next designer on my fashion hit-list, is Missoni. Honestly, WOW. This line truly is an explosion of colour and texture. The 'safari-eske' feel to the show was more than noticeable with the bold, clean cut lines and bright infusions of block colour. The make-up was kept fresh and simple, with a sweep of bronzer across the cheek bones to give that summer sunkissed feel, not taking any attention away from the clothes (not that that would be possible). Zig-zags and diamond shapes galore! Bravo Missoni.

Last, but by no means least, is Cacharel. This collection was an absolute breath of fresh air, with the use of water colour prints that look effortlessly beautiful on each model. Some of the clothes had a tie-dye feel to them, but not in an over exaggerated way. The tone of the show seemed to be orange, with the frequent use of the vibrant shade on each garment and the lighting on the catwalk. Very simplistic, but very effective.

Bloc Party

Spring is FINALLY here! Well, in the world of fashion it is. I don't know about you, but I've sort of had enough of the cold, grey, rainy days - monotonous colour schemes and pale skin. Don't get me wrong, I have loved all of the Autumn/Winter trends from 2010, heritage chunky knits, nostalgic aviator jackets, sexy berry lips - how can you hate that? But, it's time to move on - and the timing couldn't have come sooner.

For anyone who considers fashion as their religion, you'll already know about the newest looks that are going to be hitting our shops in the next couple of months. Draping the models this season, we see that it's all about the long and floaty, bright and eccentric bloc colours and american apparel inspired, wearable sportswear. Very simple, not too confusing and chaotic.

The futures looking bright for us fashionistas out there. Here's some of my favourite pieces from the catwalks...
